Living life in Color is about more than not being depressed. It is about thriving, about having the life you want to live. If you feel like you don't have that but you want it, I would like to help you get it.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the Chemical Industry for several years. During this time, I witnessed firsthand how demanding, patriarchal, and dehumanizing work environments can impact mental health and relationships. This experience led me to reject traditional capitalist ideas of overwork, underpayment, and productivity at any cost. Instead, I choose to focus on the inherent worth of people to create, to love, and to experience beauty. I also embrace a feminist framework through which I approach people of all genders with respect and empathy.
While I have an expertise in women's issues, I do welcome and enjoy working with men who want to have better emotional and physical intimacy with their partners or want to understand their important role in a world that is rapidly changing. I also enjoy working with clients who are LGBTQIA+, particularly those that are questioning their gender identity, are queer, trans, gender fluid, non-binary, or who are transitioning genders. I am racial justice allied and believe in an anti racist approach, which I expect my clients to respect while they are in my office. Derogatory language toward any group of people will not be tolerated, even if that group isn’t present.
Clients can expect a warm, humorous, and sometimes irreverent approach to discussing life's challenges. However, when it comes to talking about your trauma, I will listen with complete attention. My clients often comment on my ability to remember details they did not expect, which helps in tying together small details into a big-picture approach to solving problems.
I am a graduate of the Diana R. Garland Master of Social Work program at Baylor University. My master’s thesis focused on eliminating the stigma surrounding psychotic disorders and schizophrenia. Many people, upon receiving a diagnosis, may find it hard to accept and fear being viewed negatively for issues beyond their control. My intention is never to “label” anyone but to help them reach a better understanding of themselves and their challenges.
During my master’s degree, I participated in two internships. The first was as a social work intern at Legacy Community Health, a federally qualified health care center in Houston. The second was as a clinical intern at the Hope and Healing Center and Institute, a non-profit organization providing free therapy services to people in the Greater Houston Area.
After completing my second internship, I became a full-time clinician at the Hope and Healing Center. There, I provided cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to adults from various walks of life, each with individual challenges. I am licensed to practice social work in the state of Texas, and I find fulfillment in walking with my clients as they achieve their goals.
I opened my own therapy practice in 2025. My goal is to provide excellent care to my clients, in an environment that is flexible and affirming.
I currently enjoy hanging out with my husband and my rescue dog, Hope. In my free time, I like to read fantasy novels, multicultural fiction, non-fiction, and ancient religious and philosophical texts. I also enjoy baking, walking, journaling, writing, drawing, painting, drinking coffee, and doing crafts, as well as spending time with my nieces and nephews. I volunteer as a social justice advocate and participate in political canvassing, where I attempt to uphold social work values and to affect change in areas that benefit myself and my clients.
I have personal experience or have people close to me that have experience with traumatic loss, disability, fertility issues, family disturbances, relationship challenges, mental illness, grieving a pet, caretaker burnout, life transitions, divorce, abuse, addiction, aging parents, chronic health conditions and social justice issues.
If you feel like you have forgotten your hobbies and creative pursuits, I would love to help you rediscover them. Or if you feel like you have never been creative, it is a new outlet we might explore. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you.
